Genting concert photos
Filed Under (Yanzi News) by wings_heero on 08-05-2006
These are photos that i have taken from the genting concert. The effect did not turn out too well probably due to the lighting. Eehan gave a very vivid description of the concert. There was some part where fans was standing on the chairs and waving lighsticks and led boards. It was an all time high. When yanzi sang 第一天, she suddenly say its shake hands time and walked down the stage. I managed to rush forward to shook her hands. It was fabulous.wahaha.The stage desiagn was sort of simple and it was one-faced .The best part was when after the concert ended and yanzi finished singing 天黑黑, fans were still standing on chair and shouting for encore for nearly 10 minutes. The fans’ persistence moved yanzi and she appeared on stage once more to sing along 隱形人 with the audiences.

Live in Genting

6th May 2006, 8.00pm
Arena of Stars @ Genting, Malaysia. (My 2 cents of review)
Perfection over imperfection once again. A night of dazzle, surprises. How do I put it? 4 months ago when I came out from Singapore Indoor Stadium, I remained in a daze for 2 weeks. The flashes of her in Singapore Concert keep on appearing my in mind. That night was fantastic. And this time round, she gave her best once again, making those who are present there falling into a deep valley of love for her.
Although I sat quite a distance from the stage, I felt her presence throughout the 2.5h. It was a 3faced stage this time compared to the 4faced one in Singapore. And everyone gets to see her face throughout the concert. The band was below the accelerating platform, and there was a larger area of platform stage in front of the band for her to perform more movements of dances. Her dancing improved, making some of the audience at the back shouting “Yanzi, U are so SEXY!” at the tango 慢慢來.
The rundown of the songs are similar, however this time round, lesser songs were sang, which many of us felt disappointed. It was cold at Genting, but the 热情 of the audience warmed up the whole place, and her as well. At 1 point of time, she even took off her jacket because she felt simply warmed up by the audience. Her hair grew, and it was long, nevertheless, pretty. Throughout the concert she kept fiddling with her pony tail, making her look a like shy teenage girl. Of course, her mood that night was very good. Reason being is that she is nominated in Taiwan’s Music awards, and she expressed her joy at the beginning of the concert.
The guests that night are Tanya Chua and ZhangDongLiang. Tanya was also nominated for the Taiwan’s Music awards, and they congratulated and chit chatted with each other, forgetting they are in the midst of a concert. After that, they sang unplugged 陌生人 which again touched my heart. Next, they sang Ode To My Family by Cranberries. They chose this song because both of their families were present and they felt they whatever success they have today is due to their family’s support. And ZhangDongLiang appeared during the song 遇見, singing alongside with her.
She did not wear the yellow dress for this concert, and she kept emphasizing she put on 3kg and all the dresses are too tight for her now. Still, as pretty. During the “last song”, The Moment, she choked and could not continue with the first chorus. And tears could be seen in her eyes. The audience helped and sang for her. At the encore part, I think she said “人生的路很难说,如果有一个人在身边相伴,这条路也会走得更开心….” Upon hearing that, I felt a sudden surge of sadness. Her 天黑黑 marked the end of the concert. (I felt like stabbing myself because I did not stay on after the first encore, because I saw reports she came out for the second encore. Hai.)
So, what are the imperfections? Firstly, the sound system AGAIN. At many times her mike was inaudible. Next, her voice sounds extremely low and coarse at some songs, and I thought she maybe having a sore throat. But I guess that is not the reason but due to the sound system again. Yet, all these were covered by her performance that night, which touched the thousands who were present. The BIG yellow hands sponsored by Osim were also cute and funny. She liked it as well, and we could see a sea of yellow hands waving at the stage. Well, the concert ended and only memories left. Keep up the good work, and we will be supporting you, and awaiting for your next move.

Even though Stefanie Sun may not be in the news recently, she has been keeping herself busy. Recently, she concluded an eight-day trip to Congo under World Vision Taiwan, and her efforts were recognized — she has been nominated for the Outstanding Young Person Award, which is presented to exemplary characters who have done good for society.
“I’m very pleased that they noticed my efforts of course. For me, I feel charity is a selfish thing. When you do a lot of entertainment stuff, it starts to get meaningless. So it’s more like finding meaning in my job, for me lah.”
And she found meaning in helping the poor people of Congo. Summing up her trip as “touching,” Stefanie even adopted a 7-year-old girl as her “daughter,” and hopes that the girl would grow up healthy. “I don’t do charity to get awards. You do charity because you feel like there are people who need it.”
Stefanie’s popularity has garnered her a nomination in this year’s MTV Asia Awards under Favorite Artist Singapore. When asked how she felt and if she was nervous about the nomination, having won it every time for the past four years, Stefanie exclaimed, “Do not break the trend!” before bursting out in laughter.
“I think it’s more like a pride thing. I mean, I’ve won it for four years so I want to have it lah!”
But what if her own friends were to win instead, as JJ Lin, Huang Yi Da, A-Do, and Taufik Batisah are all nominated in the same category. How would she feel if she were to be ousted by the newer artists? “If I don’t win, it’s fine also. It means that there is this other person that everyone also looks up to.”
She doesn’t hide the fact that the award means a lot to her though, especially an award like this which depends on fans’ voting. “You don’t get to see them [the fans] but you feel like it’s a very big invisible type of support that really helps. Over time they get to know you and you get to know them, and they’re very supportive of you.”
Supportive fans are very important in such a fickle music industry, and Stefanie is all too clear of that. When speaking about the qualities necessary to succeed, she firmly states, “I think vocals are important. Looks are important, I cannot deny. It’s not about being pretty, it’s about not being detestable. The person has to draw you somewhat.”
With the recent deluge of reality programs focused on sourcing new talent, she only has this to say. “I think it’s important to like music if you want to be an artist. But sometimes it really takes more than that. I feel you can’t want to be ‘like’ somebody in this business. Because being unoriginal doesn’t get you anywhere.”

hi all,
As you know, i’m in malaysia. Tomorrow is another big day and the air here is thin, so i find myself out of breath sometimes….(pant pant.)
These days I have been rather carefree, not that i haven’t got work, but it feels like i no longer have to follow the industry’s pace. And there are so many interesting stories and meanings, i feel like i’ve finally found time to explore (albeit on my own). But you know how it is with us human, you take something good, you dissect it, scutinise it time and again, not believing your good fortune and finally cast it to the “no” bin. It’s self destructive and unbelievably stupid. I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone of us
because it’s 2006.
I have been reading some materials online the other day and realised how ignorant i would be without the convenience of the internet. Everything from details of WWII to how to cook mussels is just a click away.
For those who like to read, I have bought but misplaced White Teeth by Zadie Smith. So i’m unable to finish it, but the first 100 pages were interestingly well-written. (can’t say the same for On Beauty though), will find time to replace it when i’m not busy breathing in other things.
SO, what’s new with everyone?
ok i should go to bed soon, or not.
get ready malaysian fans.
